Zia Muhammad was awarded the Research Poster Award at the 2023 Conference on Computational Science held on October 18, 2023 at NDSU. His poster, titled “Demystifying cyber insurance adoption for small businesses,” won the 2nd-place award.
The conference showcased over a dozen invited talks and about 40 poster presentations representing different research areas on campus. The event was attended by more than 100 attendees, and I was impressed with the quality and diversity of the research presented.

2. Outstanding Organizer Award for National-level Cyber Security event
Zia Muhammad was awarded for his efforts in organizing a national-level Cyber Security Challenge. The event, which was open to students from universities and all other educational institutions, included a Capture-the-Flag (CTF) event, a crypto challenge, and a startup challenge (Ideas Cup). Over 600 participants from 50 universities competed against each other in this event. Date: 27-28 July, 2022
Zia Muhammad was awarded by Prof. Dr. Kashif Kifayat, Director at the National Centre for Cyber Security, Air University Islamabad, Pakistan, for his efforts in organizing a national-level Cyber Security Challenge.
The Cyber Security Challenge allowed students to showcase their skills and knowledge in cybersecurity. The event was a resounding success, with participants from across the country competing to win the top prize.
